My Dental Coach: Cold sore or Canker sore?

Cold sores, also known as Fever Blisters are found outside,
typically on the lips, and are very contagious. Fever
blisters are caused by the herpes virus, and are most
effectively treated by acyclovir, denovir or penciclovir.

Canker sores or Aphthous ulcers are the most common oral
ulcers in man and are estimated to affect one-fourth of the
population worldwide. Mechanical trauma, emotional stress,
food allergies and hypersensitivity to dentifrice
components may play a contributory role in some patients.

Avoid strong sunlight, put protective salves on your lips
and make sure your taking your B-Vitamins

It might be difficult but please refrain from kissing your
spouse, children or other loved ones. The virus is really
tough to get rid of when you get it.
